Mid Day Meal Scheme

The centrally sponsored Mid Day Meal Scheme launched for enhancing enrollment, retention and attendance and simultaneously improving nutritional levels among children.

 

The objectives of the mid day meal scheme are:
  1. Improving the nutritional status of children in classes I – VIII in Government, Local Body and Government aided schools, and EGS and AIE centres.
  2. Encouraging poor children, belonging to disadvantaged sections, to attend school more regularly and help them concentrate on classroom activities.
  3. Providing nutritional support to children of primary stage in drought-affected areas during summer vacation.

The Mid Day Meal is the world’s largest school feeding programme. Users can find detailed information pertaining to this scheme. Guidelines of the scheme are available. Information is given about the Union budgetary allocation, centrally assistance released, foodgrain allocation and FCI payment etc. Details pertaining to the role of community participation, meal provision, School Health Programme and nutritional support etc. are given. A monitoring Application is also in place and currently only Only Ministry and State Level user have access to these reports generated by this MIS.
